Since I never actually finished writing about Saturday, and still have the rest of Sunday to do, I guess I should do that. So then ...

After the concert was over at 7:00 pm, Piccolo, Ellen and I (having lost Yvonne and Stephanie to the crowds), desperately needed something to drink. So we, like so many others, trooped to the closest deli (which was in the same food court as the Burger King and pizza place we spent so much time at), talking excitedly about the concert and re-playing it in our minds the whole time. Upon purchasing our drinks, we headed back to the Convention Center, intent on getting good seats for the Masquerade (which Piccolo and I had missed last year, and been forced to watch from Video Room 1). Of course, as luck would have it, everyone who hadn't gone to see L'Arc had begun to line up outside the ballroom - where the Masquerade was held - instead.

Let me say now, because I haven't said it yet: The quality of cosplay really went down the toilet this year. Last year there were some pretty bad ones; but this year sucked. We saw one good Vash, one really good Rikku from FFX II, one good Yokan Kaoru and Toshiya (the girl who was Kaoru was actually Asian and had purple hair, and the girl who was Toshiya had the make-up perfect, and both were carrying guitars), one good Osako-jo Kyo, and one good Illuminati Gackt. That was it. The rest were cosplayers who were dressing up out of pre-packaged get-ups, or your typical type with a decent costume and no make-up or hair, or those who really don't have the body for it trying to be G&L or J-rockers.

Anyway. The Masquerade was a disappointment in that the skits were mostly very, very boring. There were a few shining gems, like the 'muppets-do-Utena' one and the four guys who were dressed up as Happatai and singing 'Yatta' (complete with dance). But most of them were, sadly, dull as all hell. This went on until 12:00 in the morning, at which point the NEW J-rock PVs (that weren't shown last year) began. These went on until 1:30 and included Dir en grey, Shiina Ringo, /\ucifer, hide, GO!GO!7188, Judy and Mary, and a whole bunch of random bands singing random songs - most of which were amusing.

Then shit happened. Ellen and Piccolo left around 1:00 to go back to the hotel room because Piccolo wanted to shower and Ellen was about to fall asleep. (No, this is not the shit that happened.) I waited out the end of the videos, because I wanted to see them. Then I left, and went back to the hotel. Piccolo had showered, Ellen was half-asleep on the bed (me and Piccolo shoved her into the shower so she could have one before she did fall asleep). Piccolo and I talked for a while and everything was calm, until Piccolo pointed out that Yvonne and Stephanie had not yet returned. It was 2:00. I reminded her that they'd come in at 2:30 after raving the night before, so they were probably either still there or on their way back. Ellen came out of the bathroom, and just before I went in, I told them to call and see what was up.

In the middle of my shower, Piccolo announces that Yvonne and Stephanie were staying the night in some guys' hotel room to talk. My jaw drops and I go: "WHAT?!" I finished my shower in record time after that, and jumped out, demanding to know the full story. Apparently, Yvonne and Stephanie had planned to spend the whole night staying up and talking to some guys that Stephanie had met on the pre-registration line (whom she'd described as "stalker-like", mind you). So I get on Ellen's phone and call Yvonne. She doesn't pick up and I leave a very angry message. Two minutes later she calls back, asking me if I just called. I proceed to bitch at her. She tells me first that I'm breaking up, which is bullshit, because I had full signal. Then she huffs, whines a "fine", and tries to tell me that she thought we were still watching the J-rock PVs. (Mind you, everything ends at 1:30, and it's now 3:30.) Then she tries to tell me that she thought that we were asleep, and that's why neither she or Steph bothered to call and tell us where they were. So I said, "Fine. Whatever. Do what you want. Don't do anything stupid." and hung up on her.

I should mention at this point that Yvonne's parents don't like any of us, and that both were staying in a hotel room that was being paid for with my mom's credit card. This does put me in a position of some responsibility for the two of them, and the fact that neither of them thought I would be up and worrying about them is a bit disheartening.

Both of them wound up coming back at 4:00 in the morning anyway (I assume my uber-awesome Jewish Guilt-Tripping Powers worked their magic for that one).

Sounds like you had fun -- at least with the Laraku concert. ;) I'd have liked to go, but auuuuuugh the costs. Still, even more auuuuuuuugh for missing a chance to see the L'Arc concert.
Geh, must be a shock for what happened around the end. How can anyone be so irresponsible?! You're not in a familiar area, you don't *know* these people....[proceeds to rant like a grumpy old woman]

I actually had a lot of fun; especially with the Laruku concert ^____^

It was a shock when they disappeared, though - I expected more from Stephanie. And it was all the more worrying that they never called us at all. Gah; you don't even want to know how much I ranted when Piccolo told me what they had planned to do -- and I have the power of the Jewish Mother Rant on my side. I felt like such a parent.

Did you take pictures, by any chance?

Not at the concert, we weren't allowed. But I did get pictures of the good cosplayers that I mentioned.
