HUZZAH HURRICANE

Let the Come On Irene jokes begin.

The MTA has completely shut down. There are lines around the block near all hardware stores and supermarkets. People have battened down the hatches with twenty years worth of canned foods and soda bottles - because soda will totally save you in an emergency - for the WHOLE TWO DAYS that we're expected to be under a state of emergency.

Not to say that my house has been left entirely unprepared. We've got our bathtub full of water on the chance that we lose power and can't flush the toilet, and we've got candles and a flash light and everything that needs charging is being charged. Eventually we're supposed to lose power but I'm not sure when that's set for.

In the meantime?

TEA. TEA AND BOOKS, DAMNIT, AND LATER SEVERAL GLASSES OF WINE.

That's how you weather a hurricane, let nobody tell you otherwise.

These are all taken after we'd left the picnic itself. Stevie's friend was in charge of photos taken during the picnic - I don't know if I'll ever see them.

A little post-picnic shot, because I thought it was awesome that my doorman didn't recognize me.

And what's a 1920s set of photos without a little sepia?

That last photo is aaaabsolutely gorgeous (though they're all nice), and your beach pyjamas turned out awesome. ♥

Thank you <3<3<3

With cunning use of How To Make a 1920s Photograph tutorial, I managed to get it looking pretty awesome. XD It's supposed to replicate a colorized photo.

It worked~ The lighting and coloring are just kinda perfect. I feel like it should be framed or something.

That outfit turned out gorgeous! I'm still super impressed by your talent! :)

If you have access to your own water heater (I don't know if your building shares or what?), you have extra water there as well, so when the tub runs out or whatever, just turn on your hot taps and you should have a new supply.

What you're getting from Irene is what we got from Charlie and that wasn't too bad in our area aside from some areas being out of power for quite some time just due to downed trees and issues with having enough man power to get everything reconnected.

Good luck with it!

Thank you.

We didn't, I don't think, but we wound up not needing it at all. Storm's moved on over us and we didn't even have power out. So it's all good.
