So of course things have been proceeding far too easily with the move to Japan, right, and fate decided I needed a nice kick in the ass. Apparently immigration needed a new photo of me because their original got marked. So they sent a request to Joytalk asking for it. Only it never arrived in Joytalk's mail. So Grant is simply going to wait a week until I'm in the country to send it and get the certificate all processed so I don't pass said certificate on the plane as it goes West and I go East.

This all means that I have to enter Japan as a tourist and show no intent to work. Which is going to be really easy, I'm sure, when I show up with my two biggest suitcases and a bed roll in tow ("What? Live here? No, no, I just wear a lot of clothes!" 8D). (No, I'm not actually bringing a bed roll.) It also means that I have to actually buy a return ticket for within 3 months of my arrival date, and then cancel it or something.

I love complications! Please, sir, may I have some more?

Don't sweat it. The hardest part is getting in. People change their visa statuses all the time. Kitto daijoubu!

It's less the visa status and more the paying hundreds in fees for changing airline tickets - because I bought my ticket one way, now I have to add a return date, and then change it. I do not approve :

This happened to a friend of mine last year when she went for interact. :< You'll be fine, they usually get it sorted pretty quickly. (You might also be able to get your return ticket originally for within three months, then change it to when you're coming back for whatever vacation :3)


(Also, because this is Joytalk's mistake, see if they won't reimburse you for the fees associated with changing the ticket.)
