We went to the Ren Faire in Tuxedo yesterday. Interestingly enough it was my dad's idea/offer - even my mom wanted to go. Apparently they'd both been to the same faire when they were teens; you learn something knew every day. I didn't dress up this year, though I did wear a shirt that looked pirate-y enough, but I made up for it by buying a blue ruffled shirt and a white sash from The House of Dra. The lady showed me how she usually wore hers, which is pretty simple, and I have a black skirt that goes well with the shirt - so I know have a full outfit for the next time I go to one other than the cheap velvet Juliet costume dress I wore last year. I also bought a quill pen and ink set, finally, and a CD made by some of the musicians who play there. I didn't get my hair braided though, but I wanted to.

We got up there too late to see the joust, but we did see "Bold and Stupid Men" - yes, a very obvious take off of "Wild and Crazy Guys". Same cadence as Steve Martin and everything. It was absolutely hilarious - the two guys obviously have been working together for some time, because they played extremely well off each other. We also watched the knife throwing, and the "Rogue Show". Those weren't as good as Bold and Stupid Men, but they were good enough. The knife throwing was good in and of itself, but the father-son team spent most of their time snarking at each other and trying to make jokes. Keyword, trying. The Rogue Show was funny at times, but mostly it was just really random. One of the rogues had a stuffed puppy toy which he called Captain Fuzzbutt, and the other rogue wanted to kill it, but no one really knew why. They had their moments, though.
