Dec. 7th, 2003 02:32 pmMy SATIIs were canceled yesterday because of the snow =^-^= Needless to say, I was very happy. My dad and I had gone out to the school where it was supposed to happen, just in case, so we went to Starbucks and Garden of Eden to get coffee and food, came back home, and decided to see The Last Samurai. I don't know why the critics hated it so much - but then, I rarely agree with critics anyway - it really wan't that bad at all. The last battle scene was very, very, very depressing, but at the same time it gave you a kind of almost-sorta-but-not-really-proud feeling. I don't know why. The thing the critics seemed to hate the most, and indeed they went on about it, was the "love story". I put love story in quotes, because it came in the form of a closed mouth kiss that lasted all of three seconds as Taka (the female lead) was helping Nathan (Tom Cruise) into his armor before the big battle. If you blinked, you mostly missed it. Wow. Such a huge love story. (Yes, I was being sarcastic.) The battle was directed insanely well, too. Even my dad was crying XDDDD
After the movie, dad and I went into Borders, which is right next to the theater. I got two CDs, one of Scottish fiddle music, and the Pirates of the Carribbean soundtrack to give to Saori as part of her Christmas present. I also got (all for me) the Pirates DVD. Then, as we were about to pay, I stopped and gawked, with my dad giving me odd looks. So I pointed to show him what I saw gawking at. And lo and behold, there was the most beautiful thing in existance: The Two Towers, 4 disc extended version *squeals* I was up until 3:00am watching them.
