So, yeah. I said "tomorrow" ... uh, I lied? Ehehehehehehe ... murr >_>;; Trying to get over jet lag has been killing me slowly, I swear it. Two nights ago I stayed up all night because I wasn't tired *at* *bloody* *all*. Some good did come out of that, in that I managed to read half of HP and the HBP between 4 and 6, and then finish it between 8 and 12 after my parents had left for work. And before I do anything else: LUPIN/TONKS DOES NOT EXIST!!! IT IS NOT REAL!!! Ahem. Anyway. Then yesterday I crashed around 3 and took a three hour nap, which meant I was completely fucked last night. I fell asleep about 1, woke up at 4 this morning, and have been awake ever since. Not cool. I need sleeping pills or something.
Anyway. China. Yes.
China goes like this: It's good to be Western. Really good to be American. And really fucking good to be a light haired, blue-eyed, bleeding white American. They love the white skin (incidentally I was asked the funniest question I've ever been asked in my life: "Why are you so white?") and the light hair. I attrached crowds. Crowds of non-English-speaking people all smiling, pointing at my face, and giving me thumbs up. I managed to make two men on bikes slow down as they passed me and stare at me as they continued biking. It's crazy. And you get some fun times bargaining prices with people.
The Terra-Cotta Warriors are something that everyone needs to see. Not in pictures, but in real life. They are amazing - it's insane to think that they were made over 2200 years ago. They are all real-life heights and have different facial features and expressions. There were chariots, cavalry, infantrymen, archers - it's breathtaking.
The Great Wall is a similar experience. The steps are all different heights - to stop the enemy, duh - the wall trails off into the distant mountains and disappears into mist - like you see in postcards. Oh, it was gorgeous. Of course, you can only walk on certain parts oh the wall (the newer ones rebuilt in the later Ming), but it's worth the climb.
My pictures came back today, so I'll be putting them up starting tomorrow or the next day, hopefully. I have to resize the lot of them and probably create a new photobucket account. Maybe I'll put them all up on greatestjournal.
Later all.
