I r teh graduate!!!11!!!!1 <-- So much for public school education; that's how they teach you to write XD Of course, does this mean that I never have to go near LaGuardia again? Noooo, it does not mean that. Because I have to get up to school tomorrow, around 8:00, just to pick up my bloody diploma. Geeze.
The official graduation ceremony began today at 10:00 am (in all reality, it began at 9:00, 'cause that's when all students were expected to be there). After sitting donw, it was sit-through-speeches time. The speeches were made by the student body president, Rishab - who was really the only one worth listening to. There was also a speech made by the speaker chick who won a contest in speech writing, the principal, and Mr. Ben Vareen (never let that man speak again. Ever. I don't care if that is what he does).
Our dearly beloved principal ::hackgaghack:: decided to impart, in her infinite wisdom, the following message: Go out into the world prepared for it to suck, because you will never get anywhere once you're out there. If that wasn't her exact message, it was something very close to it, as all she spoke of were the dissappointments in life (and she should know; she's a failed actress stuck in a performance and arts high school) and how there was little chance of success (once again - failed actress). I mean, I'm not counting on going out and becoming the next Britney Spears or whatever, but honestly - telling a bunch of students on their graduation day that they're going to fail in life is not a very nice thing.
Mr. Ben Vareen decided to come back after 39 years to graduate (he dropped out of the dance department, I believe, to pursue his career elsewhere). The man is a motivational speaker, through and through, and rather than come on stage with a creative and fun speech - which he definitely could have done - he came on stage with a 25 minute speech about spirituality and Jeasus, and how we were "divinely chosen" (I kid you not, those were his words) to walk the path of the arts. There was one good part alone in the speech, during which he said "Maybe now we'll have a president with some sense". Of course, said in context, he was talking about how one of us had to get that sensible president into office. How are we supposed to do that, you ask? ... Your guess is as good as mine. He ended by singing "The Impossible Dream" - cheesey, and not even sung as well as Brian Stokes Mitchell.
After the ceremony I went to my friend Dana's house for a luncheon/party. Justine, Sarah, Dana, Rachel, Stephanie, Travis, and Alex were all there, along with most of their parents. Dana's niece was there with Dana's brother, as well - that girl is so freaking cute; but she sings like Mariah Carrey >_<;; We left the party around 3:30, then Steph and I went to Kinokunia, where I treated myself to the Gothic & Lolita Bible #12. Now I'm back here. I'm tired - gonna go hunt down some coffee.
