Mom and I landed safely in Thailand at 12:00-ish last night, and reached our hotel at 1:00 or so. After a shower I fell into bed at 2:00 and went to sleep promptly, but still managed to wake up at 8:00 this morning. Considering 2:00am is 4:00am in Japan, that was quite a feat.
Today we saw Wat Pho (the Reclining Buddah), Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn), and The Grand Palace. The Lonely Planet tells you there's a dress code at the temples, but really only the Palace enforces it. Even wearing 3/4 pants, I was given a sarong to tie over them. The other places didn't much mind, and the at the Reclining Buddah you're allowed to take pictures with flash. You really have no idea how big the Relclining Buddah is until you've seen him. He's massive, and supremely relaxed. It makes you smile just walking into the building. And we were lucky enough to catch the monks having their evening service, so we sat and listened to them for quite a while. It was very serene and the complex was very open. All in all it's been an excellent day, with street food for lunch. We're going to go to tourist lane for dinner. It should be fun.
... This hotel computer does not have a high enough version of Adobe installed for me to use Poupee Girl. I am really, really sad. T^T
