I totally got a random pamphlet of all the onsen in the Maebashi area (Gunma prefecture's big thing is onsen), as part of JTB's promotion for Golden Week. I love that the schools here let people come in to try and sell things. My Friday elementary had a guy come in with a whole jewelry set up, like a street vendor. It's incredibly amusing.

I actually had class at my junior high today - and not just the 'come for five minutes and introduce yourself then go back to the staff room' that happened on Monday. Today I went through the second year classes and actually did team teaching. I passed out papers, wrote answers on the board, listened to the kids give a short self-introduction, and pronounced words with the teacher. If you want an easy job, it seems, junior high is the way to go. The only hard day will be Tuesdays from now on - I'll have five classes those days, rather than the three I have on Monday and Wednesday.

I should probably be more proactive (guh how I hate that word) and try talking to the teachers between classes and during breaks. It does make the day seem a lot longer when I only really talk to two people, and one of them is the vice principal. But my Japanese is seriously not what it should be, and they're all incredibly busy, and I don't know what to say to them other than 'tetsudau koto arimasu ka' because I don't think they really want me asking what kind of movies they like. It doesn't help that I'm the wallflower shy type. I'm trying to make up for it by helping to serve lunch and clean the teacher's room - I don't know how much good that's doing though.

I want Golden Week to come now kthxbai *sigh*

will probably help get rid of the sterotype that all americans are messy pigs? :Dbbbb

Just wait til you find a fangirl amongst the teachers. There's bound to be one. XD

I want to go to onsen! But it's kind of problematic with the tattoo thing and not having girlfriends to go with. :/ Maybe we can go during Golden Week? :D

Bring candy/sembei for everyone. If you go somewhere for a day trip, buy some omiyage and leave it at the front for everyone and they'll love you. I can't wait for Friday when I can give out my sweets from Korea and free up space in my fridge for real food.

I think we definitely should. Some of the ones in the pamphlet look amazing! I haven't actually looked at the details, but if they're promos they're probably not the super expensive once. :D Golden Week onsen it is!

I probably should have done that when I went into Utsunomiya. Mmmm. Maybe next weekend. I'm certainly not bringing them something from the Family Mart down the road XD

Yeah, anything but that. I brought stuff from Tsukuba mountain and Nikko when I went. Just left it at the front with a note saying "Senshuu Nikki ni ikimashita. Douzo~" and they loved it. No need to actually talk with anyone but still makes good relations. I don't talk to other teachers at work either.

PS do you have MSN?

I will have to try that then. I was hoping to go back into Tokyo and see some other part of it next week, but I'm not exactly sure what my plans will be.

I have not the MSN, but I have AIM and Gtalk if those help.

ちなみに、when I was researching banks this morning, I noticed you can use 7/11's ATMs to access Gunma Bank for no charge during regular business-type hours. So maybe it won't be so bad to have them? (In case you were wondering, the Post Office charges. And so do the two local banks here (-_-;) So I went with Tochigin♪)
