Dec. 25th, 2005 02:23 pmWell holy fuck n' Merry Christmas - enjoy the rain, folks. There's nothing better than Christmas Eve when you're a Jew, because the movie theaters are deserted and you get the screen to yourself. And while, fortunately, I guess, I didn't have to kill babies to see it as
slipperyliz suggested I might, I did get my ass into said theater to see King Kong. Ho. My. Gawd. King Kong was absolutely awesome - though (I'm gonna get lynched for this, I know) it really could have done with being half-an-hour to an hour shorter. Honestly the time spent on the boat was far too long for my liking, and they could have done without some of the Skull Island bits. Other than that, however, it's an amazing movie - and the fact that Peter Jackson and his team completely recreated, to perfection, even the side streets of a 1930-1940s New York makes me insanely happy. (All I want to know is, if a man who films in New Zealand can recreate, probably from photos, New York of the 1930s and 40s; why the hell can't a man who could film in New York recreate New York from fifteen years ago? The city hasn't changed that much since then.)
Also, I saw this on
sinyainlace's journal, and figure that some of you may be interested. After many long years of work, Dir en grey finally gets a U.S. release. A most amusing article (read that first quoted part carefully - it sounds very wrong) here.
